We'd all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That's waiting for you at Sainsbury's. Corporate Services is made up of specialist teams, namely Legal, Information Security, Safety & Insurance, and Company Secretary & Share Management. While they're distinct areas, we all deal with risk. So that covers how we identify risk to the business, people, stakeholders and shareholders, how we assess and evaluate the impact of risks, and how do we mitigate them or even accept them. What makes us different is that we have real exposure to other specialisms; we don't operate in a silo and can move laterally into other opportunities. We also have an amazing leadership team - which is 50% women - and a genuine passion for Sainsbury's as a brand and as a place to be. Which makes this a place where you should be.

Flexible location with nationwide travel

Joining Sainsbury's as a Fire Safety Manager means becoming an integral part of a dynamic and inclusive team of Safety Specialists (each with their area of expertise to include Food, Construction, Technical, FM and Policy) dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of customers, colleagues, and visitors across all Sainsbury's and Argos sites. With a focus on continuous improvement and legal compliance, you'll have the opportunity to utilise your expertise and make a meaningful impact by shaping and implementing high-quality fire safety management processes. As part of a supportive environment that values personal and professional development, you'll work collaboratively with various departments to drive safety initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the organisation.

What you'll do

As the Fire Safety Manager at Sainsbury's, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to ensure that all Sainsbury's and Argos sites, including Depot's, Local fulfilment centres, Store support centres, and product development studios, comply with fire safety regulations and standards. As an SME, you'll be key point of contact for any fire safety related queries. You will oversee the delivery of the Fire Risk Assessment programme, conduct detailed investigations of incidents, and collaborate with key departments to integrate fire safety considerations into new store developments, product ranges, and business expansions. Your role will involve using data analysis to identify areas for improvement, managing fire safety initiatives, and ensuring effective communication of fire safety management information throughout the organisation, ultimately contributing to the reduction of harm and protection of property while maintaining legal compliance.

Who you are

As a Fire Safety Manager, you are a highly skilled and experienced fire safety professional with a deep understanding of fire safety management and associated risks, particularly within retail and logistics environments. Your ability to use data and trend analysis to identify areas for improvement and ensure legal compliance, coupled with your strong interpersonal and influencing skills, enables you to provide expert guidance and support across the business. With your forward planning, organisational skills, and strong interpersonal abilities, you play a crucial role in developing and implementing high-quality management processes and information to safeguard customers, colleagues, contractors, and visitors.

We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer so you'll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there's always the chance to try something new - whether that's as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we'll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them:

Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to save 10% on your shopping online and instore at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat, and we regularly increase the discount to 15% at points during the year. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 20% of salary, depending on how we perform.

We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, interest free car loan of up to £10k, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, salary advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an Employee Assistance Programme.
