Thanks to our close relationships with industry regulators, our solutions comply with multi-jurisdictional KYC ("Know Your Customer") regulations, allowing customers to process a wide variety of identity documents, and onboard and service consumers from all around the world in different markets and countries.
We are looking for an experienced General Counsel to provide expert legal advice and support to our executive team, as well as lead a Legal department of experienced Legal Counsel peers.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe role is central to IDnow. The successful candidate will ensure that our company operates within the law at all times, offer counsel on legal issues, and facilitate business strategies development.
- Provide Expert Legal Advice: Offer accurate and strategic legal counsel to management and executives on diverse topics, including corporate finance, labor law, partnerships, and international ventures.
- Draft, Review, and Negotiate Agreements: Handle a broad spectrum of contracts, policies, and agreements, including client and vendor agreements, ensuring legal soundness and alignment with business objectives.
- Ensure Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with internal controls, statutory regulations, industry standards, and emerging legislation, particularly in the tech sector.
- Legal Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential legal risks by developing and implementing preventive policies, procedures, and company-wide initiatives.
- Handle Litigation and Regulatory Matters: Manage legal proceedings and litigation, including oversight of external counsel and communication with regulators and public authorities.
- Intellectual Property Protection: Safeguard the company's intellectual property through effective management of IP filings and strategies.
- Corporate Legal Strategy: Assist in formulating and steering the company's corporate legal strategy and direction, aligned with business priorities.
- External Communication and Negotiation: Liaise with and negotiate with external parties such as regulators, clients, public authorities, and external counsel.
- Corporate Compliance Programs: Develop, oversee, and refine corporate compliance programs to foster an ethical and legally compliant workplace culture.
- Employee Education and Training: Conduct training sessions to educate employees on legal and compliance matters, fostering awareness and adherence across the organization.
- BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree; MA or BSc in Business Administration will be considered an advantage
- Proven experience as a General Counsel or in a similar role within the Tech industry
- Proven experience within the fields of M&A, Regulatory-, Commercial and Labour Law as well as the topic of ESG
- Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies to anticipate legal issues
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent judgement
- Strong English and German, French is a plus
