It takes a special kind of drive to keep the world moving; and due to growth, DSV is looking to recruit. DSV are recruiting for the role of General Manager, reporting to the Regional Director at our Mercia Park site.

The General Manager has overall responsibility for leading a team in providing high quality service for all customers based out of the DSV Solutions Mercia Park locations. The General Manager is a key member of the Senior Management Team and is responsible for implementing the regional/site plans, operational structures and site/customer specific procedures as determined by the Senior Management Team. In addition, the General Manager is responsible for ensuring that the site meets performance standards set in the key result areas of the business.

Key Tasks

• Ensure the site implements effective and efficient management of all operating systems and procedures in line with the Company's guidelines.
• Monitor the performance of the site in the key result areas and review on an ongoing basis, ensuring that remedial action is taken to deal with unsatisfactory results.
• Maintain all buildings and equipment to maximize their value and comply with current legal and safety requirements.
• Efficient management of the Site's financial accounts and the implementation of effective financial control procedures in line with Company guidelines, along with creation of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and weekly/monthly financial reporting.
• Control of all overhead budgets for the Site including employment, fleet, and other overhead costs to maximize profitability in line with the Site's business plans.
• Oversee the recruitment, training, development, and discipline of all personnel employed at the site, maintaining appropriate liaison with the Company's HR department.
• Ensure all employees on the site work to the required standards of the Company and are assessed through regular performance reviews.
• Monitor ongoing performance of all direct reports and undertake regular reviews in accordance with the Company's procedures, ensuring that the employee engagement concept is known as the people Plan/appraisal system is embedded and practiced within the site.
• Always promote the good name of DSV Solutions by adopting a professional approach.
• Ensure regular communication through team briefings with all employees in the site to make them aware of national and local developments affecting the Company.
• Promote, support, and implement the site continuous improvement program/s.
• Maintain effective liaison with the Company's Business development team to ensure the maximum recruitment of new customers and the development of the existing customer base in line with the Company's strategic objectives and targets.
• Continue an effective chain of communication with Site Management Team to ensure operational and financial performance is reviewed on a regular basis, encompassing daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.
• Establish a clear concept of proactive management to mitigate all risks associated with high profile customers on site.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with all relevant Company rules, agreements, policies, procedures and with all relevant legislative requirements and codes of practice.
• Ensure Company business is treated in the strictest confidence and not disclosed to persons outside the Company.
• Act in a professional manner, ensure good working relationships are always maintained and promote a good image of the Company.
• Maintain and comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards, and to appreciate the responsibility you have to adhere to the respective procedures.
• Be aware that the Company operates a Quality Assurance system ISO 9001:2008 and adhere to the respective procedures.
• Ensure a good standard of housekeeping through observance of relevant Company policies and ensure that work areas are secure and locked when unoccupied.
• Attend any development training as required in compliance with the Company's commitment to the Investors in People standard.

Skills and Competencies

• 4 GCSE's or equivalent / 3 A Level's or equivalent
• Degree Qualified (desirable)
• CPC National/International
• 5 years of Senior Operational Management Role, of which 3 Years in successfully running a large Multi User Operation.
• Significant budgeting and financial reporting exposure
• Leadership, ability of achieving and exceeding business goals.
• 2 Years of Continuous Improvement Experience (Lean/Six Sigma)
• Ability to lead and motivate direct reports
• Highly motivated with a positive attitude
• High organisational skills, ability to plan and manage own time
• Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels
• Driving Licence
