Job Description

Lawter, a leading supplier to industries such as graphic arts, adhesives, specialty coatings, aroma chemicals and synthetic rubber, is seeking a talented, driven and self-disciplined leader to join the Global Lawter team.

For its headquarters in Europe, Lawter is looking for a:

Global Operations Director M/F/X

About the position:

The position is a Director level position in the Global Operations Team. In your capacity as Global Operations Director, you provide support in all aspects of operations and serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team for Lawter. You lead by example and ensure adherence to company policies. The departments under your leadership are: Global Operations, Global Projects and Process, Global Q&EHS.

Operations:

  1. You maintain a safe and healthy work environment and comply with legal regulations.
  2. You set annual global targets for the Operations department and support regional managers in their target setting.
  3. You lead a global manufacturing organization of approximately 425 people, directly managing 7 regional Operations managers.
  4. You contribute to strategic plans, implement standards, and resolve issues.
  5. You prepare and manage an annual budget of approximately 50 MMUSD and a CapEx budget of 4.5 MMUSD.
  6. You address customer issues and improve the customer experience.

Global Process and Project Management:

  1. You lead 2 employees and maintain global best practices.
  2. You coordinate and execute the CapEx program.
  3. You maintain the global DeltaV system.

Q&EHS:

  1. You lead the global Q&EHS manager.
  2. You support the implementation of EHS policies and systems.
  3. You ensure compliance with legislation and continuous improvement.
  4. You manage QEHS systems like 5S, ISO 9000, 14001, and 18001.

Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

  1. You lead the global PS&RC manager and a team of four employees.
  2. You understand PS&RC standards (FDA, Bfr, REACH, etc.).
  3. You protect intellectual property and manage NDA systems.
  4. You maintain MSDS systems and ensure compliance with safety legislation.

Education/Experience:

  1. You have 10+ years of Technical/Manufacturing/Process Management leadership experience.
  2. You have a record of proven strong remote leadership through a global business.
  3. You are highly organized with the ability to complete multi-tasks in a timely manner.
  4. You possess a high level of integrity and positive working attitude.
  5. You have strong communication skills.
  6. You are a team player, able to work cross-functionally.
  7. You have a BS or Equivalent in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required. Masters or equivalent desired.

Other skills and abilities:

  1. You have advanced English oral and written communication skills, with the ability to gather, assimilate and communicate technical knowledge across a number of levels in the business.
  2. You have mathematical skills, including basic math skills, problem solving and variances.
  3. You have the ability to define problems, identify solutions and follow through to completion.
  4. You demonstrate leadership skills.
  5. You are able to relate to and manage relationships with internal and external customers.
  6. You have proven time management techniques with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  7. You have a specific understanding of Ink and Adhesives Resins markets in terms of competitors, technologies, end uses, and customers.
  8. You have strong MSOffice capabilities.
  9. You have strong organizational, problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  10. You have a global perspective and are able to travel 30-50% of the working time.
