Job Description

We are seeking a Global Senior Engineer to join our Corporate Engineering team! Responsibilities will be heavily focused on project management (in the tens of millions), ownership of Title V and air emissions criteria for multiple facilities (including international locations), Capital policy oversight and financial tracking, new project development, including design, execution, and operation. This role is the liaison between project resources & the Viskase Executive leadership team. The role will also be the primary contact for engineering solutions at multiple locations for, and interacting with, our global insurance carrier, Factory Mutual. This position reports to the Director of Global Engineering.

Key Additional Responsibilities:

  • Apply scientific and engineering principles to improve processes and equipment.
  • Organize, plan, and execute projects while working within budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare labor estimates, budgets, timetables, and resources.
  • Primary engineering contact for Global insurance carrier for site improvements.
  • Review any modifications or new systems that handle hazardous chemicals or that are in hazardous classified areas for safety by thorough review including process hazard analysis.
  • Work with the plants to ensure compliance with the pollution regulations. Assist with any issues, new permits, compliance with new regulations, compliance testing, communication with regulatory officials, etc.
  • Manage 3rd party engineers and consultants. Prepare the specifications for the scope of work needed for contracts. Collaborate with engineers, procurement, and other project team members.
  • Help administer the Capex workflow system. Work with the capex requestors to make sure that the forms are correct. Review, edit, and approve/reject requests, as required.
  • Technical lead for teams; define project goals, communicate with stakeholders, and see a project through to its closure.
  • Provide oversight for building projects and ensuring that all work is in sync with project goals and objectives. Handle security permissions and organization of all the engineering data on the SharePoint site and the engineering server.
  • Provide mentoring to junior personnel, interns, co-ops, contractors, vendors, etc.
  • Be present onsite for projects during construction - including preconstruction walks, in-progress work review, and project start-up and close-out. Identify, mitigate, and track project issues. Work to prevent recurring construction issues.

Education and Required Experience:

  • BS Degree in Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering degree. Professional Engineer (P.E.) is ideal but not required.
  • Minimum 10+ years in Engineering with a record of progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • Industrial Manufacturing experience required; chemical preferred.
  • Experience with production lines, utilities, piping, steam systems, dryers, process handling eq., etc.
  • Experience participating in cross functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Functional ability in Microsoft Project.
  • Travel required 20 - 40% global and domestic.
