What you'll do:

Typically, the role of planning consultant will involve working on a variety of projects, supporting senior staff on project work, providing direct client advice on sites/projects, drafting reports and planning submissions (site assessments, policy notes, applications, development plan representations, and Environmental Statements) and assisting with the management of the team's caseload.

Key tasks include:

1. Assisting senior staff in driving large projects forward
2. Managing minor planning applications
3. Undertaking analysis and research
4. Preparing planning appraisals of buildings, land and concepts
5. Preparing planning applications & reports
6. Liaising with employees of consultee organisations, planning officers and third parties
7. Liaising and cultivating great working relationships with clients, colleagues and fellow professionals
8. Developing original and creative solutions
9. Taking responsibility for smaller projects from early stages through to completion
10. Remaining informed about documents relating to planning policy and practice
11. Providing presentations and attending external events

Qualities & attributes:

1. Applicants should be degree-qualified in a relevant field with enthusiasm and interest in Planning
2. Strong understanding of the principles of planning

4. Adept at technical writing and presentations
