Hays - Mainframe Consultant

Hays Luxembourg is looking for a Mainframe Database Consultant for his client, based in Luxembourg.

Requirements
Backup and recovery:

• Implement and manage backup and recovery processes and tools.
• Monitor database backups and maintenance jobs, troubleshoot job failures, and collaborate with Operations as needed.

Database management:

• Possess knowledge of logical and physical database design.
• Perform data management tasks such as loading, unloading, updating, restoring, and removing data to ensure database accuracy.
• Conduct database maintenance activities like Adhoc Reorgs and Runstats on demand from application teams.
• Monitor and manage database space, including purging obsolete data and reclaiming space.
• Archive and purge large application tables.

Performance and troubleshooting:

• Troubleshoot database performance issues and apply query tuning concepts.
• Identify and resolve high-priority database issues.

Development and testing:

• Refresh development and test databases with production backup images as requested.

Team collaboration and learning:

• Motivate to learn and participate with the team on Datacom subjects.
• Knowledge of Datacom is an asset.

Technical skills

• TSO/ISPF knowledge.
• Adept with JCL coding.
• Good understanding of Cobol-DB2 programming and debugging skills.
• Basic IBM Utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG, Runstats, etc.).
• DB2 Tools knowledge (CA Platinum tools, Data Propagator).
