Job Description

A well-established financial institution, leader in its segment of the Belgian market and part of a major international banking group, is currently looking for a Head of Credit Risk to strengthen its senior management team.

With a network of independent brokers across the country and a long-standing reputation in consumer and mortgage lending, the company is undergoing a new phase of strategic development and digital transformation.


As Head of Credit Risk, you will:


Manage a team of approximately 35 professionals

Report directly to the CEO

Sit on the Management Team, helping to define and execute the company's strategic roadmap


You will be responsible for :


Credit Risk Management: overseeing risk appetite, NPLs, acceptance policies, regulatory follow-up and portfolio monitoring

The transformation of the credit production process, focusing on efficiency, speed, and automation (straight-through processing)

Continuous alignment with credit risk appetite, regulatory standards and internal controls

The first line of defense in interactions with internal auditors, external regulators and group-level stakeholders

Equip your team with the right tools, processes, mindset and coaching to support long-term growth

Act as a sponsor for all credit-related projects, leading cross-functional initiatives in coordination with Sales, IT, Risk and Compliance

Chair credit committees and contribute actively to portfolio monitoring reviews

Represent the company in risk-related discussions at group level


Requirements


Proven expertise in credit decisioning, especially in mortgage lending

Exposure to broader credit risk topics (regulatory, modelling, portfolio mgmt.)

Experience in people management, including managing managers

Strong background in process improvement, digital tools, and change management

Solid stakeholder management at senior levels

Fluent in Dutch, French, and English
