Head of Insurance

Purpose of Role: We are looking for a Head of Insurance, to work in a standalone role across our enterprise. You will be an insurance expert, managing insurance arrangements for TCE and advising the business on all matters pertaining to insurance risk.

Main accountabilities:

• Responsible for the effective and efficient running of the insurance operation across The Crown Estate.
• Ensure insurance placement strategy is in place and aligns with the risk appetite of all business units.
• Engage with our insurance brokers to ensure effective provision of service, value, advice, and coverage fitting our diverse needs.
• Ensure TCE discharges their disclosure obligations to our insurers.
• Focus on insurance expertise across all portfolios and link into the insurance market via our appointed broker, insurers, and loss adjusters.
• Responsible for premium payment to insurers and governance of insurance distribution across TCE.
• Oversight of renewal process including adherence to timeline, manage Reinstatement Cost Assessment exercises, data from portfolio owners, and Managing Agents.
• Ensure claims are dealt with in a fair and efficient way.
• Monitor claims experience to understand implications on our future premium requirements and manage internal and customer expectations.

Most important skills based requirements:

• In-depth and up-to-date understanding of the insurance market including the regulated environment.
• Good awareness of insurance products available.
• Expert knowledge in property and liability insurance.
• Knowledge of the Real Estate market and insurance processes.
• Understanding of lease wordings and implications for insurance obligations.
• Ability to think creatively and problem-solve for insurance risk.
• A team player with the ability to collaborate with others to achieve the goal.
• Good communicator, explaining insurable risk across the business.
