The BBC is seeking to appoint a Head of Leadership, Talent & Inclusion. Reporting to our Chief Talent & Inclusion Officer and with a dotted line reporting to the Human Resources Director of our Nations division, the role will be responsible for leading on the divisional implementation of the group-led BBC strategies and frameworks for leadership, performance management, talent management and diversity, inclusion & belonging. This role will be responsible for working with divisional stakeholders to build out the requirements and plan, balancing group consistency with local relevance, and ensuring that initiatives drive meaningful impact within the division.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Embed BBC leadership, performance, talent, and DIB (diversity, inclusion and belonging) frameworks within the division, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities
  • Adapt and refine strategies to reflect local market conditions, workforce demographics, and business requirements
  • Serve as the key liaison between group and division leadership to influence and inform the continuous evolution of strategies, frameworks and plans
  • Develop and implement interventions that accelerate the core objectives for leadership, performance, talent and DIB across the division
  • Collaborate with the divisional HR team and with business leaders to identify gaps and opportunities and implement targeted, measurable solutions
  • Ensure talent pipelines support succession planning and future business needs and bring together diversity goals with recruitment and talent entry initiatives
  • Drive the division's DIB agenda, ensuring alignment with BBC initiatives while addressing local cultural and operational considerations
  • Partner with business leaders to foster an inclusive culture that supports a diverse workforce and creates equitable career progression
  • Monitor DIB metrics and use insights to inform continuous improvement, sharing reporting locally to facilitate understanding and action planning
  • Build strong relationships with divisional and group stakeholders, ensuring initiatives are co-created and well-integrated into business priorities
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, influencing decision-making through data-driven insights and best practices
  • Engage with external partners and industry bodies to bring in fresh perspectives and benchmark performance
  • Define success metrics and track the impact of all initiatives
  • Continuously assess and refine initiatives and programmes based on feedback, business impact, and emerging trends
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation
Are You The Right Candidate?

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in a leadership, talent, and/or inclusion role, preferably within a complex, matrixed organisation
  • Strong ability to translate and implement group-wide strategies in a way that is fit for local purpose
  • Expertise in leadership development, talent management, and DIB best practices
  • As an expert in their field, they will provide professional leadership and act as role model to their teams and colleagues
  • Adept at managing numerous, diverse senior and executive level stakeholders, often operating under tight timescales and managing numerous competing priorities
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work across multiple levels of an organisation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive evidence-based decision-making
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and change management capabilities
  • Ability to operate in a politically sensitive environment open to public scrutiny

Package Description

Band: F
Contract type: 12 month fixed-term contract
Location: Flexible - based in any UK BBC hub with hybrid working - some travel to other bases required
Salary range: Up to £125,000 dependent on skills, experience and internal benchmarking
