The Paediatric Psychosocial Service (PPS), part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust (MFT) CAMHS which sits within the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital is looking to recruit a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist/ Paediatric Neuropsychologist.
This is a brilliant opportunity for dedicated mental healthcare professionals to promote and improve the mental health and well-being of children and young people with physical health conditions and those who care for them.
We provide inpatient and outpatient support to patients with a wide range of physical health conditions on a local, regional, national and international basis. Working for the Paediatric Psychosocial Service at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, you'll work with children and young people aged up to 18 years and their families who present with a wide range of complex emotional and behavioural difficulties associated with physical health conditions.
You'll be supported to manage a defined caseload and have the responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and young people. Roles also include consultation and liaison with medical teams.
Main duties of the job- Providing evidence-based psychological assessment and interventions
- Contributing to MDT care planning and review
- Providing consultation, training and support to the wider team
- Developing the clinical psychology service in conjunction with senior colleagues
- Supervision of more junior colleagues, trainee and assistant psychologists or other psychological practitioners
- Contributing to audit and research
To be considered for this role, you'll need:
- An accredited post-graduate qualification in Clinical Psychology
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Post-qualification experience of working within the fields of paediatric, adolescent or adult health psychology

Person specification- Qualification: Diploma, masters, doctoral degree or equivalent accredited by the British Psychological Society as qualifying the person to work as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Experience and knowledge: significant experience of working as a child specialist clinical psychologist.
- Skills and personal attributes: Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management in work with children and families.
- Education and supervision: Experience in designing, planning and undertaking clinical research and service evaluation.
- Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with children and families across the age range with a full range of presenting problems and across settings including community, outpatient and clinic settings.
- Experience of working within specialist paediatric services.
- Experience in teaching and training staff from other professional groups in psychological skills and concepts.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
- Pre-qualification training or experience with children and adolescents.
- Experience of working autonomously as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of teaching, training and supervision of assistant psychologists and trainee clinical psychologists.
- Post Qualification Continuing Professional Development related to Paediatric Psychosocial services.
- Experience of neuropsychological assessment.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
