Band 7 Highly Specialist Gastroenterology Dietitian (0.5WTE, 12 month fixed term maternity leave cover) at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The role will provide specialist dietetic care to patients with medical conditions affecting the small and large intestine, liver, and pancreas.

Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a highly skilled Dietitian, with experience working within the NHS, to join our team providing nutritional care to gastroenterology patients.
You will be a Dietitian with well-developed team working, communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills. Experience of gastroenterology, and delivering complex nutritional support, including enteral tube feeding, is essential.
You will need to be an active and integral member of the Dietetic and multidisciplinary Gastroenterology Team, in addition to being a highly skilled autonomous practitioner, based in Cheltenham General Hospital, with potential working across our hospital sites to deliver care.
About usWe have a large, friendly, and supportive Dietetic Department and Gastroenterology team.
Our dietetic department is based across our two hospital sites: Cheltenham General Hospital (CGH) and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH).
This post will be part of the acute dietetics and gastroenterology teams and based at CGH.
You will work closely with the wider team including gastroenterologists, specialist nurses, and the ward team based in Cheltenham and across Trust sites.

Job responsibilitiesThe team includes a Band 7 Highly Specialist Gastro Dietitian and Band 7 Nutrition Support/Acute Team Lead Dietitian to work alongside and provide support.
The majority of your work will be covering the inpatient caseload on our dedicated Gastroenterology ward, with the potential of outpatient cover, and will also include providing support and clinical supervision to our acute Band 5s and students.
Person Specification Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience- Registered with HCPC
- Attendance on relevant accredited courses. Evidence of Continued CPD, including evidence of reflective practice, service evaluation, and utilisation of best practice.
- Training and/or demonstrated experience in Leadership and Development.
- Experience of working within the NHS.
- Demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge in Gastroenterology and decision making in enteral tube feeding.
- Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible. Ability to work outside normal working hours, including occasional evenings if the service requires.
- Experience of effectively maintaining working relationships within a team.
- Prioritise workloads, planning and organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Implement evidence-based practice.
- Experience of leading and managing staff. Be responsible for clinical supervision of junior staff and students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening, caring, and empathy skills and can relate well to staff and patients.
- Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening skills.
- Ability to assess individuals with complex medical problems and to plan their dietetic care.
- Ability to make decisions regarding change of practice based on clinical evidence and to disseminate the same to other health professionals.
- Ability to problem solve.
- To demonstrate Trust required behaviours in working towards Individual, Department, Divisional and Trust Objectives/Goals.
- Ability to deliver education sessions to patients, colleagues, and healthcare staff.
- The ability to manage change and conflict to ensure resolutions with positive outcomes.

- Able to travel to other hospital sites and community locations.
