Are you looking for the opportunity to be at the forefront of developing the future pharmacy workforce at the largest Trust in the country? We are looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic pharmacist who will contribute to improving the training and experience of foundation trainees and pharmacists, working across the group of Barts Health Hospitals. You will be expected to lead by example and work closely with clinical pharmacy teams to provide expertise and develop the educational infrastructure. The successful candidate will join a supportive, integrated pharmacy team, committed to delivering high quality patient care. They will have access to further educational opportunities and senior clinicians within Pharmacy and other disciplines who can provide mentorship and aid professional development.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for supporting delivery of the foundation trainee pharmacist programme focussing on prescribing under the supervision of a designated prescribing practitioner and requirements as stipulated by the GPhC and NHSE.

To support with training and clinical supervision provision for foundation training, newly qualified and advanced pharmacists at Barts Health.

To support with developing resources and training for undergraduate pharmacy programme and contribute to sharing good practice across NEL ICS.

Job responsibilities

Although this position is a 16 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 16 months.

Please note: When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, HCAS (High-Cost Area Supplement) is not included for non-medical roles. This ensures fairness and consistency within our organisation, as some of our sites fall under inner HCAS, while others are classified as outer HCAS.

Person Specification Qualifications

• MPharm Degree in Pharmacy
• Postgraduate Pharmacy Qualification or equivalent experience (minimum postgraduate diploma level)
• Completion of Statement of Teaching Proficiency

Experience

• Experience of working as an educational supervisor role with either pre-registration trainee pharmacists or foundation training pharmacists
• Experience of delivering professional training and education to staff members
• Ability to undertake and facilitate audits and research
• Experience as a DPP

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
• Ability to motivate others and act as a role model
• Able to work unsupervised and under pressure
• IT literate; able to use Microsoft office with intermediate IT skills including, accurate data entry and use of specialist computer programmes
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate with and influence senior medical staff and senior management

Knowledge

• Knowledge of trainee pharmacists foundation training year
• An awareness of current national and regional standards and guidance relevant to education and training (GphC, HEE, RPS)

Other

• Interest in expanding knowledge and self-development
• Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
