Housing Benefit Overpayment Officer

They have a Debt initiative on the horizon as they look to recover or write off £60-70m worth of debt across Council Tax, HB Overpayments, Sundry, and Adult Social Care.

To do this, they are looking to recruit 20 staff. They have a resilience contract with NEC, so 10 of these will be supplied by them.

They are looking to recruit 10 Officers on a temporary basis to start from January for 6 months, which will be broken down into:

1. 4 x IWorld Council Tax Officers
2. 3 x IWorld HB Overpayments Officers
3. 2 x Adult Social Care Debtor Officers (using Abacus)
4. 1 x Sundry Debtor Officer (Using Oracle)

The work involves case review for referral to external solicitors or referral to debt collection agencies, along with associated monitoring and system updates.

They have a budget of £250,000 for this, which breaks down to £25,000 per candidate, equating to £26.70 all in, inclusive of margin and Comensura's fees. They are open to paying candidates at different rates.

Candidates will work 36 hours a week and are usually required to attend the office at the Civic Centre 3 days per week.

All the jobs will be released through Comensura. They are currently waiting for approval of the business case.
