Infrastructure Engineering Team Leader (FTC 12 months)

Location: City of London (3 days a week in office)
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM

I am representing a global investment management company who are looking for an expert infrastructure professional who is either currently leading a small team of engineers or is a technical lead looking to take a step up.

The role is an Infrastructure Engineering Team Leader to oversee a skilled team of infrastructure engineers and drive key infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team (Windows, Linux, Comms, Desktop) responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable IT systems. You'll focus on management, team development, and process improvement, so that all projects align with business goals and technology practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure projects, ensuring efficiency and timely delivery.
  • Manage contracts, licenses, and vendor relationships.
  • Drive automation, cloud adoption, and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver best-in-class IT services.
  • Ensure system security, compliance, and lifecycle management.

Skills:

  • 7+ years of IT infrastructure experience, including Windows, Linux, and virtualization.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or management role (this role is mainly hands-on).
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps, cloud, and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Skilled in additional areas of infrastructure with skills in at least 2 other domains (Citrix/Azure/SAN/Exchange/AWS).
  • Experience with vendor management and cost optimization.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for driving change and innovation.
