Rate: £800-£1000 per day

Contract Length: 6-9 months

Mostly on-site

Interviews are set to take place W/C 3rd and 10th March.

We are seeking a highly experienced Interim Executive Director of Housing to lead and create a new housing directorate within a local authority.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this senior role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in housing management, policy development, and business transformation.

This role will be mainly on-site to start with moving to more of a hybrid arrangement.

About the Executive Director of Housing:

1. Provide expert advice to the Council on all strategic housing matters.
2. Lead on estate management, responsive repairs, housing delivery, business development, and private and accessible housing.
3. Actively contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting leaders and policy committee chairs.
4. Establish and develop a new housing directorate over a 6 to 9-month period.
5. Manage and oversee individual housing managers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
6. Drive policy and operational improvements across the housing function.

Your previous experience as an Executive Director of Housing:

1. A seasoned Director (not AD level) with extensive experience in a similar role.
2. A strategic leader with local authority experience (preferred but not essential).
3. Strong understanding of housing policy, governance, and service delivery within the public sector.
4. Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and influence senior decision-makers.
5. Experience in change management and service transformation.
