Future Planet Capital's Regional strategy manages several venture capital funds focused on investing in early stage and technology startups within the West Midlands. The team has an established analyst recruitment programme with previous graduates being promoted to Investment Manager and beyond.

About the Role

The Investment Analyst will support Investment Directors in evaluating new investment opportunities and managing existing portfolio companies. This role involves conducting detailed financial and commercial analysis, market research, and due diligence to inform investment decisions. The analyst will also assist in preparing investment proposals, assist in reporting to internal and external stakeholders, and monitor the performance of portfolio companies. This position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals in the early stages of their career.

What the job involves

  1. Investment Evaluation: Analyse business plans, financial statements and market data to assess potential investment opportunities.
  2. Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence on new investment opportunities, including market analysis, competitive landscape assessment and validation of business models.
  3. Portfolio Management Support: Assist in monitoring the performance of portfolio companies, including attending board meetings, investment performance tracking and strategic support.
  4. Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, external investors and investment committees.
  5. Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes that may impact current and potential investments.
  6. Networking: Attend in-person events to build your personal network and raise the profile of the funds.

Who we are looking for

  1. A strong academic background.
  2. Analytical skills and familiarity with financial modelling.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  5. Demonstrated interest in venture capital and prior experience/internships in venture capital, private equity, corporate finance, investment banking or management consulting.

Salary: £27,000 - 30,000 + bonuses. 10% employer pension contribution.

Application Process

  1. Submit application: Apply with your CV and a cover letter. Your cover letter should include naming a West-Midlands based startup you would recommend we consider for investment from the FPC Regional funds, with a brief overview as to what makes it a potentially attractive investment opportunity.
  2. First interview (video/online): held with two current Investors in the team, to understand your academic and professional experience and your interest in the role.
  3. Case study (video/online): selected candidates will be invited to complete a 60 minute case study analysing a potential investment, presenting their findings in an interview with one of the Investment Team.
  4. Final interview (in-person, Birmingham): held with the Chairman of Future Planet Capital and the Managing Director for FPC Regional.
