Junior Business Controller

Position: Junior Business Controller - Up to €60,000 (DOE)

Location: Germany, Giessen - hybrid solution 2/3 days onsite

We are looking for a Business Controller to support a leading software businesses global portfolio of companies by providing financial insights. In this role, you will work closely with senior leaders to ensure accurate financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting while driving improvements in financial systems and processes.

Role Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to business units and division heads, offering financial analysis and strategic recommendations
• Oversee sales control and revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with HGB and IFRS accounting standards
• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
• Conduct budgeting and forecasting, performing variance analysis and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Prepare and present financial reports to management and the Canadian parent company
• Analyze financial data, identifying trends and providing actionable recommendations to support business decisions
• Contribute to finance and controlling projects, helping to streamline operations and enhance financial processes
• Support the development and optimization of financial tools and systems to improve efficiency

What You'll Need

• A degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
• Some experience in financial controlling, accounting, or a similar area (internships or student roles considered!)
• Strong Excel skills
• Fluent English (spoken and written); knowledge of additional languages is a plus
• Understanding of international accounting standards (IFRS) is beneficial
• A detail-oriented, analytical mindset with the ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence decision-making
