Lerners is seeking a Law Clerk to support the Real Estate and Land Development practice group in the London, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience working in a similar position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Preparing real estate transactions for closing, with a particular emphasis on new home residential sales, condominium sales, and commercial and private mortgages acting for the borrower;
- Experience with the registration of subdivisions and condominiums and associated new home/condo sales would be an asset;
- Ordering title and off-title searches, corporate searches, and municipal reports when deals are firm;
- Ordering payout statements on sale & mortgage files;
- Finalizing reports to clients and financial institutions;
- Following up on undertakings and outstanding items on files;
- Detailed file organization - paper and electronic filing;
- Maintaining an effective BF system;
- Communicating with clients and other professionals by phone and email;
- Strong knowledge of Unity and Teraview;
- Drafting correspondence, preparing accounts, depositing cash receipts, paying invoices, and collection of accounts receivable;
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in residential and commercial real estate transactions.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn new subject matter and skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Teraview and the requirements of Teraview with respect to title and Unity matters.
- College diploma or university degree in a related field is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
