Temporary Lead Capital Accountant

Hybrid working - 40% office based

Key Requirements:

1. CCAB qualified.
2. Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience.
3. Good knowledge of financial accounting techniques and methods.
4. Good understanding of professional accounting standards and practices.
5. A good knowledge and experience of computerised financial systems and Microsoft Office applications.

The purpose of the role is to provide expert accountancy support to the Council as a whole, including its company interests. To deliver the corporate financial functions required to run a successful organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Be the lead accountant for the provision of financial advice and technical support.
2. Attend committee, Board and other meetings representing Finance.
3. Undertake technical research into new government initiatives, emerging accounting standards and other changes and advising senior management as appropriate.
4. Assist with benchmarking exercises, project evaluations, company financial appraisals within agreed timescales.
5. Manage the work and performance of Officers reporting to a Lead Accountant post, including mentoring and training requirements.
6. Manage strategic, corporate and unit projects as required within agreed timescales.
