Thought The AA only provide roadside assistance? Think AA-X.

Technology has made human life easier; from booking holidays and banking, through to meeting new people and work opportunities. But over the last decade owning and driving cars has gotten far tougher. At AA-X we are on a mission to re-invent the car ownership and usage experience.

We imagine, build and grow connected car ventures. Using data and AI to provide car and driver insights with new solutions that give drivers control, confidence and a little joy across their motoring lives.

As a Lead Content Designer within AA-X, you'll be part of the UK's largest and most trusted driving company, developing and testing human-centric products and services fast; whilst giving AA members first access to everything we build. Are you ready for a career where you're always ahead?

This is the job

As a Lead Content Designer within AA-X, you'll collaborate with a team of talented and passionate individuals to design, launch, and incubate next-generation B2B and B2C connected car products. These products aim to transform the car ownership experience. You'll be responsible for defining, designing, researching, prototyping, and implementing new features and future iterations.

We are looking for a Content Designer who is excited by the opportunities that new technology can bring in solving problems and is passionate about creating transformative experiences for users. You should have a balance of strategic content design skills alongside the ability to write engaging and effective copy. You are customer-obsessed and research-driven, a natural collaborator who can work independently and in a team environment.

As a leader in our growing design team, you'll play a key role in shaping our work processes and contribute significantly to building AA-X as a successful venture incubator for The AA.

Please ensure to include a copy of your latest portfolio as part of your application for this role.

What will I be doing?
  • Content strategy & vision: Collaborate with the Head of Experience to define the Content strategy, vision, and impact on OKRs. Lead the design and implementation of our content strategy across multiple products and propositions.
  • Deliver exceptional products, services and experiences: Take a holistic approach to content design, not only reviewing pages or features, but considering the end-to-end user journey, information architecture and collaborating with other designers to step-change or create new user experiences.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across product, data, marketing, engineering, and internal business units to improve cross-team collaboration and maximise the value content design can bring across our experiences.
  • Design frameworks and team performance: Oversee and contribute to the creation and evolution of our design tools and frameworks, including design system, experience principles, and ways of working to build a strong design function.
  • Research & feedback: Work closely with user research colleagues to obtain regular user feedback and identify opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with product teams to integrate research findings into decision-making and align business goals with user needs.
  • Communication & leadership: Advocate for content design and for our users, using insights and experience to successfully navigate ambiguity and aid decision-making. Facilitate workshops, present designs, prototypes, and concepts to cross-functional partners and stakeholders to bring teams to a consensus.
What do I need?
  • Leadership & strategy: Experience in a senior content design position with strategic design responsibilities, managing or working across multiple products or services within a cross-functional team.
  • Content design: Significant experience working with content design for digital products (web and app), producing engaging copy but also designing how and when users will engage with content across a range of products and services. A portfolio demonstrating effective use of content to increase engagement, improve experience and deliver organisational goals (including writing examples).
  • User-centred design: Deep understanding of user-centred design methods, UX research methodologies, and product discovery, with experience designing and defining products from early concept to launch and iteration.
  • Communication & collaboration: Strong communication skills, adept at presenting work to broader product teams and leaders, with a collaborative approach and excellent storytelling and facilitation skills.
  • Technical proficiency: Skilled user of common content design and collaboration software such as Miro, Figma, Jira and CMS solutions. Experience with SEO, keyword search and acquisition copy writing not required.
  • Personal attributes: Passionate about content design and the impact it can have on user experience, comfortable navigating ambiguity, proactive in bringing clarity to project teams, a self-starter with the initiative to generate new ideas, and team-oriented, valuing culture and relationships as much as the work.
