As a Lead Radiographer at our Highgate Hospital, you'll have a BSC degree in diagnostic radiography (or equivalent), a postgraduate certificate and be competent in both CT, MRI, and General Radiography. You'll also have the ability to oversee the clinical practice of Senior Radiographers, ensuring high quality patient care, maintaining standards of practice, and providing leadership in operational aspects such as staff training, equipment management, and quality assurance, while still performing diagnostic radiographic examinations when required.

As a Lead Radiographer, you will:

  • Supervise and mentor junior radiographers, providing guidance on complex cases and technical aspects of imaging.
  • Review and approve radiographic images to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, including incident reporting and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage the radiology department's daily operations, including staff scheduling, workload allocation, and equipment utilization.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines related to radiation safety and patient care.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation.
  • Assess staff competency and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support staff development through mentorship and coaching.
  • Perform complex radiographic examinations, including those requiring advanced techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
