What You Will Do

The Manufacturing Engineering Department at Caterpillar Leicester is involved in two areas of work: improving current manufacturing processes and designing/developing new processes and technologies before introducing them to the Production environment.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you will provide day-to-day support to the operations teams for all products built at Building Construction Products, Leicester. You will assist in the creation, development, implementation, and documentation of new processes to optimise safety and efficiency across the Paint facility.

You will provide support for the design, development, and implementation of innovative solutions, systems, and advanced technology to deliver the Paint Optimus Project portfolio.

Work assignments may be specialised in nature but may also be broad-based, requiring collaboration between teams to complete larger projects.

You will specifically be accountable for driving:

1. Draft assembly processes to establish current process baseline.
2. Support new process development of current products.
3. Create, update and audit Standard Work documentation (including Risk Assessments).
4. Make suggestions to support driving safety, quality & velocity improvements.

The successful candidate must bring (Basic Qualifications):

1. Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings.
2. Excellent demonstrable people skills and an awareness of Psychological Safety.
3. Skilled in Microsoft Excel (Spreadsheet, data sort, graphs, basic formulas).
4. Experience in Microsoft Outlook & PowerPoint.
5. The ability to work positively with others, requiring team collaboration and strong relationship building to achieve the agreed objectives.
6. Be self-motivated and have the ability to work on your own initiative.
7. The ability to organize and manage your own workload.
8. Previous experience of innovating and implementing new technologies, business improvement projects and driving efficiency benefits.

1. Able to create and update Layout designs (AutoCAD).
2. Trained in Creo.
3. Flexible approach to work.
4. Proficient in MMR (Value & Nonvalue added).
5. MTM (Method-Times Measurements) trained.
6. Able to create Glovia purchase order requisitions.
7. Proficient in Geneo standard work, Risk assessments & Tool list creation.
8. Able to complete workstation simulation & design (including tool station design).
9. Previous experience using Six Sigma DMAIC, Porsche Lean or other Lean methodologies and tools.

Job Title: Lean Engineer

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £33,890 rising to £37,500 once fully competent
