The role.
We are looking for a Legal Counsel (circa. Newly Qualified - 2 years PQE) to play a vital role in providing legal support and advice to our organisation as we continue to expand our FinTech operations. You will work closely with our Legal team and various departments to negotiate a variety of commercial legal agreements and ensure that our operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations in the UK and across international markets. You'll have an interest in a varied workload, with strong drafting and negotiating skills, and the ability to apply them independently to drive the business forward and create real value. In addition, you'll have a focus on developing and maintaining the legal processes, policies and precedents that underpin our business. You'll also have the opportunity to develop and train more junior members of the team. Day-to-day responsibilities.
- Commercial contract negotiation and management: work with our business teams to draft, review, negotiate and execute commercial agreements, and other legal documents with third parties, including vendors, clients, and partners, whilst maintaining the processes that underpin them.
- Business partner: be a trusted legal advisor to our commercial teams to help establish, maintain, and expand business relationships whilst providing input into new products and initiatives.
- Risk management: identify legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate them, including the development and implementation of processes, policies and procedures.
- Corporate matters: assist with acquisitions, corporate integration projects and corporate governance matters, including compliance with corporate laws and regulations.
- Dispute resolution: assist in resolving legal disputes, including working with external counsel when necessary.
- Research and analysis: conduct legal research on various topics, including emerging legal issues in fintech, and provide recommendations to the legal team and senior management.
- Training and education: develop and deliver legal training programs to internal teams to ensure awareness of legal and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales
- Demonstrated relevant legal experience, ideally in fintech, financial services, or a related industry or a strong desire to gain experience in such an industry
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
- Proactive attitude and ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- High level of integrity and ethics.
