Job Description

We are recruiting for a Logistics & Operations Manager with a minimum of 3 years at senior management level in a fast-paced BtoC business. Reporting directly into the Partners of the business, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate end to end project management capability combined with an analytical and methodical approach to workplace planning and operational performance. In addition, strong team leadership is expected as you are accountable for the warehouse, returns, repairs and QC teams based at our Guildford warehouse sites, which comprises a total of 50 team members, including 8 manager-level personnel.

Resource and skills planning, effective communication and flexible change management is essential to manage your team and maximize productivity and efficiency. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective commercial relationships with external stakeholders and suppliers within your areas of responsibility.

We operate within a fast-paced environment that requires any individual within our leadership team to be able to react and adapt to change, and more importantly remain close to your area of expertise, understanding core processes well enough to be able to have a hands-on approach when needed as well as a holistic view for strategic purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with the Partner of the Business to understand their vision for the company and formulate logistics & operational strategies to help them deliver on those plans.
  • Managing and maintaining costs based on departmental budgets and business performance.
  • Effectively managing couriers, suppliers and warehousing contracts, ensuring reviews are conducted periodically and providing appropriate reporting to business Partners.
  • Developing relationships with vendors and potential suppliers - overseeing procurement and the tender process, negotiating terms, prices, and arrangements.
  • Overall responsibility for a team comprising 8 direct reports and a further 40-50 indirect reports. Oversee recruitment, resource allocation, training and development, conducting performance reviews, setting targets and offering coaching and mentoring to direct reports.
  • Regulatory compliance, ensuring all legal obligations are met, including waste management reporting, risk assessments are conducted, insurance policies are in place and health and safety is adhered to across all operations.
  • Forecasting and planning for business seasonality and promotional activity. Ensuring the logistics operation can scale in line with sales.
  • Pro-active in bringing forward ideas for improvement of the delivery options offered to our customers and looking at ways to give Andertons a competitive edge over the competition.
  • Accountable for the efficient operation and performance of the ancillary departments within the logistics operation, i.e., Returns, QC, Photography and the movement of goods throughout the business.
  • Effectively communicating with key stakeholders and managing queries, issues, investigations, and projects as they arise.
  • Continuously assess the warehouse premises, facilities, software and systems for suitability. Consistently looking to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure a safe and profitable operation.
  • Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for cost savings or performance improvements.
  • Writing business reports for the company to communicate performance, as well as reports for the team to support the day-to-day running of the company logistics.
Candidate Profile:

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years senior management experience within a similar B2C ecommerce business.
  • Relevant degree or training or demonstrable through experience.
  • Effective communicator, able to define goals, talk through strategy, gain buy-in and agree actions to be delivered, review then analyse results.
  • Experience in procuring products from B2B suppliers at scale and managed supplier relationships.
  • Project and Change Management experience with proven track record of project delivery.
  • Excellent Analytical Skills. Ability to draw insight from data and highlight opportunities both internally and externally.
  • Intermediate to advanced level Excel ability: nested formulas, pivot tables, power query etc. BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI are a plus.
  • WMS experience, including setup and implementation.
  • Strong Logistics and Supply Chain knowledge.

Contract Type: Full Time

Working Hours: 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday
