Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week (possibility to partake on the Registrar on-call rota, not essential discussed at interview)

Job overview

The Clinical Fellows are expected to work together as a team, collaborating with consultants and developing good working relationships with junior doctors, nursing staff, and diagnostic departments.

Main duties of the job

You will be based at Wrightington Hospital with clinical commitments at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and Leigh Infirmary. Applications are invited for a Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship post at Wrightington Hospital to commence August 2026. This post is for a duration of 12 months.

This post does not attract a National Training Number (NTN) but does have SAC approval and is aimed at Specialist Registrars who have nearly completed their training and want Fellowship experience in Hip and Knee arthroplasty Surgery.

Person specification Qualifications
  • Full registration with GMC
  • FRCS (T+O) or equivalent
  • Higher Specialist Training or equivalent
  • Evidence of postgraduate prizes
  • Teaching Degree
Experience
  • Evidence of experience in lower limb arthroplasty / complex revisions demonstrated by a log book
  • Evidence of participation in Education or Teaching
  • Evidence of lower limb arthroplasty research/ peer review publications
Skills
  • Evidence of commitment to lower limb arthroplasty as demonstrated through active participation in audit, research, and CPD relevant to sub-speciality
  • Good communicator and team player
  • Ability to keep good clinical records
  • Ability to set priorities in face of conflicting demands
Knowledge
  • FRCS (Tr and O) or equivalent knowledge base for arthroplasty
