Macmillan Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist, Personalised Care

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Macmillan Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our team at St George's Hospital. This role is pivotal in supporting the Head of Nursing for Cancer in implementing the Personalised Care agenda, and support delivery of our Cancer Program. The successful candidate will be a highly visible and accessible leader, ensuring the delivery of high standards of nursing care and service delivery.
Main duties of the job- Lead and project manage the delivery of Personalised Stratified Follow Up (PSFU) across appropriate tumour types.
- Implement and evaluate the role of electronic Holistic Needs Assessment (eHNA) within the project timeframe.
- Collaborate with IT staff to support new ways of working and ensure the development of Infoflex.
- Develop and embed an appropriate model for Holistic Needs Assessment in each department.
- Support all Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) in understanding and implementing Treatment Summaries.
- Contribute to the development of Health and Wellbeing events as part of each MDT's strategy.
- Provide strategic support to staff in all divisions to ensure ownership and prioritisation of the project.

Job responsibilitiesLeadership and Performance Management:
- Maintain clinical credibility by working regularly as a clinical practitioner within your area of expertise.
- Be a highly visible, accessible, and approachable leader to staff, patients, carers, families, and the public.
- Ensure clinical initiatives and service developments are embedded in clinical practice.
- Identify and coordinate opportunities for patient and public involvement in service development.
Clinical Quality and Safety:
- Maintain a high clinical profile through walk rounds and regular drop-in sessions.
- Continuously improve patient satisfaction and experience.
- Ensure quality scorecards are used and acted upon to improve clinical services.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Staff Management:
- Forge positive working relationships to support an effective matrix approach to achieving NHS objectives.
- Motivate and develop staff within the cancer directorate to deliver new NHS responsibilities.
- Manage two CNS teams and the Macmillan Information and Support Centre.
General Responsibilities:
- Act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice.
- Ensure confidentiality and comply with the Data Protection Act.
- Promote equal opportunities for staff and patients.
- Comply with Trust policies, including the No Smoking Policy.
- Registered nurse level 1. First degree in Nursing or health related subject or working towards it.
- Knowledge and application of management and leadership themes.
- Experience of prioritising and managing multiple projects to deadline.
- Experience of senior nurse level for a minimum of 2 years in cancer (band 7 or above).
- Knowledge and application of HR procedures.
- Models excellent clinical skills and has the ability to implement these in practice.
- Demonstrates excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Able to chair, co-ordinate and facilitate meetings.
- Ability to synthesise complex facts or situations requiring analysis, formulating and mentoring delivery plans.
- Evidence of adopting problem solving approaches to complex issues and situations.
- Plan and organise across a broad range of complex activities, formulating and adjusting plans as required.
- Proven track record of excellent ability to co-ordinate the work of the multidisciplinary team and lead on any actions required.
- Proven ability to work under pressure both professionally and managerially.
- Proven ability to emotionally support other staff.
