The Engineering Planner will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and ensuring that maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and effectively across all asset areas. A key aspect of this role is working closely with the production planning team to ensure that maintenance schedules align with production needs, optimising plant availability and minimising disruptions.

This role also involves managing the CMMS system (Agility) to enhance maintenance planning, track work orders, and generate relevant reports. The Engineering Planner will also play a vital role in coordinating training, supporting the development of the engineering team to enhance operational efficiency.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Collaborate with the Facilities team and Machine Maintenance team to develop and manage an effective preventive maintenance (PM) plan.
  • Work closely with operations management, shift leaders, engineering leads, and production planners to ensure planned maintenance activities are seamlessly integrated into the production schedule.
  • Oversee the creation, tracking, and reporting of all work orders (both planned and unplanned), ensuring timely execution.
  • Act as the Agility System Controller, ensuring accurate maintenance records, work order scheduling, and the generation of reports for analysis and decision-making.
  • Manage all contract resource requirements for the Engineering and Facilities teams, ensuring external support is booked efficiently.
  • Raise Purchase Orders (POs) for spare parts and contractor labour to facilitate the timely completion of tasks.
  • Organise training programmes for the engineering team, ensuring they remain up to date with best practices, compliance, and technological advancements.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM), and other proactive analytical processes to drive continuous improvement in maintenance strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and inspections, ensuring that Engineering SOPs align with standards and are properly documented.

Qualifications/experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Very strong analytical skills together with problem solving/decision making with associated ability for data gathering and generation, data analysis and creation of effective resulting communications.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance systems and working in a highly regulated industry.
  • Understanding of engineering equipment.
  • Experience of CMMS system's and planning software tools.
