About The Candidate

Position Summary:

The Manager role centres on project delivery with some involvement in business development as part of the practice team. A Manager will typically work on a single project at a time and will also help to develop pitches, write proposals, or with longer-range business development activity.

Specifically, the Manager role involves:

1. Leading strategy and diligence projects, from designing the approach to overseeing analysis to synthesising findings.
2. Leading OC&C project teams (typically 3-6 people on a project), including assisting team members to develop consulting skills; i.e. helping motivated and talented individuals to progress quickly.
3. Building strong working relationships with client contacts during projects, and beginning to build a personal network.
4. Supporting sector team efforts to reinforce OC&C's position as leaders in strategy consultancy in our chosen areas.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct and manage the analysis, design, proposal, implementation and ongoing delivery of consulting projects, ensuring customer satisfaction and customer results.
2. Translate strategy and business needs into actionable recommendations.
3. Deliver against deadlines.
4. Assist in client pitches and help with developing client relationships.
5. Rapidly gain acceptance within the company and clients as a very strong, professional manager who can provide clear thought leadership.
6. Support the development of IP (in the form of publications, conference presentations, etc).

Personal Characteristics:

We are seeking an individual with an outstanding track record of problem-solving and achieving/exceeding objectives in a project-based environment, with the equivalent of 5 years' experience of complex strategy consulting projects, including experience from a blue chip and/or strategy consultancy group.

1. Experience of managing workstreams and leading consulting teams.
2. Analytical clear thinker who can recognise critical issues and dedicate attention accordingly; a highly numerate individual, who is hypothesis and issue driven.
3. A pragmatic, enthusiastic and structured implementer with an ability to create and maintain pace whilst ensuring that energies are well focussed and channelled.
4. A true appreciation for rigour.
5. Commercially aware, able to recognise critical issues and dedicate attention accordingly.
6. Very strong communication skills required for internal and external communication.
7. Credible at Board level with the ability to relate well to clients and colleagues.
8. High business ethics: honesty, respect for the individual and culturally unbiased.
9. Down to earth, friendly and approachable.

Language Requirements:
Business fluency in German and English.
