Mechanical Quantity Surveyor (Junior & Senior)

Company Overview: Our client is at the forefront of the construction industry, specializing in mechanical pipefitting and plumbing services. They lead in prefabrication services, focusing on pipework modules, plant rooms, pump skids, and riser modules, committed to integrating advanced pipe technology with expert craftsmanship to create sustainable environments.
Project Scope: The projects typically range in value from £100k to £10m, predominantly situated along the Thames Valley corridor between Oxford and London.
Job Summary: On behalf of our client, we are seeking a motivated Quantity Surveyor with a specialization in mechanical, heating, cooling, plumbing, and pharmaceutical pipework. The role involves supporting the commercial team in managing project costs, conducting valuations, and overseeing financial reporting under JCT & NEC contracts. The candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring projects are executed within budget, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Control & Variations: Prepare and submit accurate monthly applications for payment, manage and negotiate build and price variations, and maintain detailed project change records.
- Subcontractor Management: Handle subcontractor payment applications, ensuring alignment with project budgets and adherence to payment schedules.
- Reporting & Compliance: Develop and maintain cost forecasts and budgets, comply with contractual obligations, and provide regular financial reports to senior management.
- Client & Site Engagement: Conduct site visits to assess cost-related issues, assist in the procurement and tendering processes, and maintain strong relationships with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in Quantity Surveying within the mechanical, plumbing, and pipework sectors.
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
- Deep understanding of JCT & NEC contracts.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and strong numerical and analytical abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the capability to manage multiple contract variations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary is dependent on experience:
- More Junior QS: £40,000 - £55,000
- More Experienced QS: £55,000 - £80,000
