The role
As a Mobile Repair Technician, you'll join our team delivering our vehicle and equipment contract with London Fire Brigade, ensuring high levels of operations asset availability covering 460 vehicles across 39 categories and operational equipment, ranging from heavy and light vehicles to hydraulic rescue equipment.

Day-to-day, you'll inspect, diagnose and repair any of the LFB's assets at their operating or training locations throughout Greater London. This ensures a continuous improvement process in respect of improving the quality, reliability, and availability of the current fleet, reducing the incidence of in-service defects, and eliminating repeated defects wherever practicable.

  • Diagnose faults and test vehicles utilizing technical equipment and procedures, including road testing where deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that the company vehicle is roadworthy at all times and that any necessary repairs and scheduled maintenance events are planned in good time.
  • Ensure the correct completion of all job-related documentation; effective post-rectification write-ups, Mobile Tranman processes, and parts ordering.
  • Identify all cases of recharge costs advising the MRT Controller and providing the appropriate supporting documentation and media.

Please note that this position involves manual work, including lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time and involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites.

This role is full time, 40 hours per week, requiring regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites.

Essential experience of the Mobile Repair Technician

  • Hold a Full UK Driving License (Category B essential & Category C desirable)
  • Quality awareness
  • Understanding of basic health & safety requirements
  • Ability to read/comprehend technical instructions

Qualifications for the Mobile Repair Technician

  • City & Guilds 1 & 2 in Motor Vehicle Studies or equivalent NVQ levels 2 & 3
