Job overviewAre you an experienced and dynamic nursing leader with a passion for delivering exceptional sexual health services? We are seeking a Lead Nurse within Sexual Health to drive clinical excellence, lead multidisciplinary teams, and provide expert guidance on GUM and contraception.
You will provide effective leadership and management to develop nursing at a strategic and operational level, working closely with Consultants and the Service Manager within the service.
Lead the way in shaping the future of the Sexual Health Service as it adapts to meet the needs of commissioners and the local community, ensuring the effective use of technology and continuously advancing nursing practice to enhance service delivery.

You must be an experienced nurse with a strong background in sexual health and leadership. Essential qualifications include STIF Intermediate or equivalent, a recognised qualification in Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH), and LoC IUT/ Certificate in Sub-Dermal Implants.
Main duties of the jobAs Lead Nurse, you will provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care, training, and education within the Sexual Health Service. You will lead the Nursing and Health Advising teams, offering clinical supervision and managerial oversight to support excellence in patient care.
Your role will involve:
- Clinical Leadership: Shaping clinical protocols, guiding multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring best practices in GUM and Contraception.
- Training & Education: Delivering high-quality education, supporting staff development, and maintaining a strong professional presence.
- Collaboration & Partnerships: Strengthening relationships with primary care, local agencies, social services, and key stakeholders, sharing specialist knowledge to support sexual health strategies and public health initiatives.
- Service Development: Driving innovation, integrating technology, and evolving nursing practice to meet commissioning and community needs.

Person specification Education/Qualifications- NMC Registered Nurse (1st Level)
- Management Qualification
- Recognised qualification in management of sexually transmitted infections/STIF Intermediate or equivalent
- Recognised qualification in reproductive healthcare/ DFSRH
- Teaching and assigning training (SLICE, ENB 998)
- Willingness to undertake Non-Medical Prescribers Training
