Job Description
About The Role

Location: Salisbury, SP1

Would suit applicants that hold RNLD, MH, RGN, RCN due to the nature of the role.

Working Hours & Structure:

Core Hours: 12 hours of admin work, completed flexibly over either two days or one long day, alongside one 12-hour care shift at the team leader rate. Total of 24 hours per week. Additional hours available.
Contract: Fixed-term contract for 6 months, with potential to roll over.
Shift Times: Weekday shifts run from 7:45 am to 7:00 pm, Waking night shifts are 7pm-8am, weekend day shift following the same hours. Additional hours are available based on client needs; specific scheduling details will be discussed during the interview. Flexibility in hours is desirable.

Pay & Benefits:

Hourly Rate: £22-26 per hour
On-call shifts are required, with additional rates discussed at interview
5.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata)

DBS check, full induction, and ongoing training (including The Care Certificate)
Continuous support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR team

Key Requirements:

Proven experience supporting adults with Cerebral Palsy, with an understanding of their emotional, behavioural, and cognitive needs
A Care Certificate/Level 3 qualification (or above) and supervisory experience in managing rotas, appraisals, recruitment, and performance monitoring
Ability to drive the client's automatic Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV)
Essential: Confidence in updating complex care plans and MAR charts
Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
Experience in palliative care and potential end-of-life care is beneficial.

Additional Role Details:

Team Leadership: You will lead a team of 14 support workers and work closely with Sebastian's mother and the Case Manager to ensure Sebastian receives optimal care.
Desirable Attributes: Experience working with adults with trauma and an interest in therapy; a calm, proactive, and enthusiastic approach with excellent organisational skills, punctuality, and reliability.

About Sebastian:
Sebastian is in his early twenties, bright, alert, and has a caring nature with a fantastic sense of humour. Sebastian is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and non-verbal, he relies on eye gaze technology for communication and is fed via a gastrostomy button (PEG) - training will be provided. He enjoys playing his electric guitar and attending online groups and classes.

Interviews & Start Date:
Interviews will be conducted face-to-face, and the role will commence with shadow shifts as soon as pre-employment checks are completed.

Main Skills and Behaviours
You should have experience of working with someone who has cerebral palsy and be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull. Supporting in the home environment as well as assisting with appointments, liaising with health professionals and therapists and following advice and recommendations whilst ensuring Sebastian's safety and welfare. Checking and monitoring the use of specialist equipment, administering and ordering medication.

Naturally, you will be a confident leader, with the knowledge of collating rotas, supervisions and appraisals, recruitment and induction, staff performance and monitoring of annual leave/sickness for the team, using and monitoring electronic recording of care records. Comfortable working in Sebastian's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family. By nature, you should be friendly, approachable and have an encouraging approach.

Great organisational skills, punctual, patient, and reliable qualities are something Sebastian will rely on so this is key in supporting him.
