Job overview We are seeking an enthusiastic band 7 Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist to join the Integrated Stroke Early Supported Discharge & Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service. The Integrated service provides both stroke rehabilitation and community neuro rehabilitation supporting service users with a variety of complex needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established multi-disciplinary team comprising of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Psychologists, Specialist Nurses & Neuro Rehab assistants.

This role requires the successful candidate to manage a clinical caseload across the North of Cambridgeshire. The base will be Peterborough, Wisbech, Doddington or Ely dependent on location nearest to home.

The role involves visiting patients in their homes, wards or community gyms. There may be times when there is a requirement to provide clinical cover elsewhere within Cambridgeshire. The role requires agile working often using virtual consultation to manage a caseload.

Main duties of the job You will use your clinical skills and knowledge to shape the service, support others in their development. You will work closely with all members of the Multidisciplinary Team and assist the Locality Team Lead with service development. You will be involved as needed in the complaints process and serious incidents reviews.

You will provide comprehensive assessments and deliver evidence-based specialist neuro occupational therapy programmes. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in supporting patients with physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs to achieve their potential.

  • To have a clinical lead responsibility in the service, developing pathways in conjunction with locality and Service Leads.
  • Represent and deputise for the locality team lead as required.
  • To assess, plan and develop specialist OT programmes for patients with complex neurological problems and a wide variety of complex needs.
  • Using expert knowledge, advanced clinical and autonomous decision-making skills, lead the team to manage patients with highly complex and sometimes unstable health needs.
Person specification Education / Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent, e.g., BSc, MSc, or Diploma entry level qualification
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Professional knowledge and training to master's level or equivalent experience
  • Theoretical study and experience within a neuro rehab setting to master's level or equivalent experience.
  • Documented evidence of own continuing professional development and its application
  • Member of RCOT
  • Management/Leadership qualification and experience
  • Member of Specialist Section Neurological Practice (SSNP)
Experience
  • Significant relevant post-graduate clinical experience in a variety of settings including community.
  • Specialist knowledge of a broad range of OT client groups
  • Advanced understanding of neuro rehab clinical conditions and clinical experience in managing complex neurological conditions including cognitive problems.

Physical Requirements
  • The ability to kneel, bend & stoop and work in cramped environments
  • The ability to use moving and handling equipment to manoeuvre patients
  • Must have access to a personal car and the ability to drive independently around the locality, due to the radius covered and lack of public transport in some areas
