Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join our small team. The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and sales ledgers, and ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded in a timely manner. They will also be responsible for running payroll for our clients and assist in the preparation and submission of VAT and CIS returns.

Working with the accounts team there is potential for the right candidate to develop their career in a friendly and innovative environment as the company continues to grow.

Duties:

  • Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards
  • Manage accounts payable, including processing invoices and payments in a timely manner
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded
  • Prepare and enter month end journals
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports to assist management in decision-making
  • Enter employee timesheet data
  • Utilise accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage for efficient record-keeping and reporting
  • Any other Ad Hoc duties relevant to the role

Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage is essential
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable/sales ledger processes and general bookkeeping principles
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in data entry
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a small team and be able to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Types:

Part-time, Permanent, expected hours: 10 hours a week initially but with the desire to increase as the role grows

Pay: £30k FTE £16ph

Location:

  • Hybrid role requiring at least 4 hours in office (day to be agreed) and then the rest of the hours from home days dependant on business need

Experience:

  • Accounting: 1 year (preferred)
  • bookkeeping: 1 year (required)
