Pensions Actuarial and Investment Consultant

Home Based (hot desks available at 10 sites across the UK)

Flexible working options available

Capita Pensions Solutions is at an exciting time in its journey: Over recent years we have continued to improve the quality of our administration services and have merged various consulting teams to remove silos enabling our clients and colleagues to benefit from a seamless, integrated approach. We are now looking to further integrate technology into our work, and to further integrate actuarial and investment advice to enhance the client experience and drive efficiency.

We are looking for a nearly or newly qualified actuary to join our Pensions Consulting business in a role that spans both Trustee Actuarial services and Investment Consulting with the additional responsibility of becoming our expert in Moody's PFaroe software.

This exciting and unique role would suit, for example, a pensions Actuary looking to build up their investment experience or someone with a hybrid pensions actuarial/investment background looking to become an influential and key part of our business growth. If you want to have a big positive personal impact on our team and business, this role is for you!

Job title: Pensions Actuarial and Investment Consultant

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • You will facilitate technology-driven actuarial and investment advisory services across our DB pension scheme clients, acting as a key link between the two teams, the main contact for our software provider, and a key contributor to the ongoing development of Capita's Actuarial and Investment consulting proposition.
  • You will ensure that the latest software developments are combined with the latest industry developments to deliver a market-leading consulting experience which is applied consistently across Capita Pensions Solutions.
  • You will collaborate effectively with colleagues and third-party software providers with areas of focus being the delivery of effective training to colleagues, collaborating with other investment consultants and Scheme Actuaries to develop a 'best of Capita' house approach and acting as key relationship contact for Moody's PFaroe.
  • You will help others with their client work but will be open to acting as a regulated investment consultant or Scheme Actuary on a portfolio of clients now or in the future.
  • You will be open to picking up other non-client responsibilities as part of a small team including, for example, investment strategy/product research, a practice area specialism and/or line management, depending on the needs of the business.
  • Manage day-to-day client needs but also anticipate the changing needs of clients and promote services to pro-actively meet these needs.
  • Ensure that work is managed commercially with robust project management across all phases.
  • Actively support and contribute to achieving practice area business plan.

What are we looking for:

Essential

  • Nearly/newly IFoA/CFA qualified (or similar). Study support is available as required.
  • DB actuarial consulting and/or DB investment consulting experience.
  • Extensive experience of technology-driven consulting in a pensions environment with a proven track record of using pensions software (ideally PFaroe) to help teams deliver an excellent service.

Desirable

  • In addition to DB consulting/actuarial some DC pensions consulting experience.
  • Qualified by experience.
