The post holder will play a pivotal role in providing technical support and co-ordination of simulation training to healthcare providers.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for providing expert technical and administrative support to ensure the effective delivery of postgraduate education and training as part of the PGMDE team.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities1. Simulation technical support responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for the PGMDE simulation training programme and facilities.
- Work across different sites and within the hospital.
- Support in-situ simulation and mobile training programmes as agreed with the Senior Management Team.
- Work closely with the PGMDE Simulation Associate Directors, Clinical Skills Tutors, and Divisional Simulation Leads to ensure readiness for simulation activities.
- Liaise effectively with the PGMDE Team to ensure smooth running of training programmes.
- Be responsible for the installation, care, maintenance, and management of equipment within the PGMDE Department.
- Support conferences, courses, and training sessions for internal and external organisations.
- Participate in and teach the use of simulation equipment on training days as required.
- Provide training in the use of specialised equipment to PGMDE staff and users.
- Resolve faults or problems with equipment used in the PGMDE Department.
- Work with external contractors to ensure contracts are in place.
- Control stock and supplies in the conference centre and maintain an inventory.
- Be familiar with working in both non-sterile and sterile environments.
2. Coordination responsibilities
- Coordinate administration and management of the simulation training programme and facility.
- Ensure smooth running of courses, including preparation of materials, ordering hospitality, and booking venues.
- Manage small budgets and process costs for simulation courses.
- Coordinate governance meetings for Simulation.
- Maintain and manage the faculty list.
- Monitor customer feedback and develop evaluation mechanisms.
- Deputise for Conference Centre Manager as needed.
- Supervise simulation activity and junior staff as required.
3. Communication & Networking
- Be responsible for the PGMDE website/intranet pages relating to simulation.
- Assist with writing course programmes and descriptive material for online platforms.
- Work closely with external groups and internal teams to facilitate cross-site collaboration.
4. Decision Making, Planning and Problem Solving
- Advise on procurement of audiovisual and IT equipment for education and training.
- Develop new services with respect to technology-enhanced training programmes.
- Work independently and use initiative to resolve problems.
5. Special Requirements
- May be required to work irregular hours, including early starts or evenings.
- Occasionally required to work at weekends.
6. General Administrative Duties
- Perform general office duties including answering phones and welcoming visitors.
- Arrange meetings and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Attend monthly meetings with the line Manager.
- University Degree or substantial experience of professional or specialist knowledge.
- Experience of working within a Higher/Further Education/NHS Environment.
- Experience working with Simulator mannequins or similar technology.
- Audiovisual skills and experience, including filming and editing.
