The Pharmacy Operations Manager will oversee and manage the operations of Montu UK's pharmacy, which specialises in cannabis-based prescription medicines (CBPMs). This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in pharmacy operations, patient-centred care, inventory management, and team leadership. The successful candidate will drive operational efficiency, ensure high service standards, and support pharmacy growth by maintaining relationships with patients, suppliers, and external partners.
They will lead a team of five direct reports, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that promotes efficiency, problem-solving, and best-in-class service. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to execute growth-focused initiatives are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities Pharmacy Customer ServicesManage a team of pharmacy support associates who serve as the first point of contact for Montu Pharmacy.
Ensure a patient-centred, non-judgmental, and problem-solving approach to supporting patients.
Lead the team in managing expectations around medication quality and availability.
Oversee CBPM inventory management, ensuring stock levels meet patient demand and regulatory requirements.
Implement strategies to reduce stock wastage, improve efficiency, and optimise cost of goods (COG) on-site.
Minimise supply chain disruptions and the need for replacement prescriptions due to out-of-stock items.
Ensure maximum profitability through efficient stock management.
Collaborate with the leadership team to design and execute strategies for scaling pharmacy operations, increasing revenue, and improving efficiency.
Oversee projects focused on expanding Montu Pharmacy's market presence, in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy.
Identify and mitigate factors inhibiting pharmacy sales growth.
Automate and optimise operational processes to allow for scalable, sustainable growth while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Manage and expand the pharmacy's formulary, ensuring patients have access to the majority of CBPMs available in the UK.
Provide guidance and product availability insights to clinicians, supporting increased CBPM prescribing and patient access.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external clinics, suppliers, and partners, positioning Montu UK as their preferred pharmacy provider.
Identify and develop additional service offerings to enhance patient experience and pharmacy revenue, particularly through e-commerce platforms like Shopify.
Manage supplier relationships to ensure a cost-effective and steady supply of products.
Participate in supplier meetings, contract negotiations, and performance reviews.
Lead, mentor, and support pharmacy team members, overseeing day-to-day tasks and professional development.
Provide training on CBPMs, internal operations, and regulatory compliance.
3-5 years experience in operational roles within healthtech companies or rapidly growing start-ups.
Proven ability to scale operations and drive efficiency in tech-enabled environments.
Strong background in inventory management with experience in optimising stock levels and supply chains.
Demonstrated success in executing revenue-enhancing strategies and business growth initiatives.
Experience in managing and mentoring teams, with strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills for working with clinicians, external partners, and suppliers.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data-driven insights and optimise decision-making.
Experience managing cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Understanding of the cannabis industry and relevant regulatory requirements (desirable but not essential).
Experience in healthtech, telemedicine, or regulated pharmacy operations.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Business, Operations Management, Healthtech).
Familiarity with regulatory requirements in healthtech, pharmacy, or alternative medicines industries.
£75,000 - £85,000 (pro rata)
25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days after one year, plus 8 bank holidays
