Plant Engineer / Fitter

Location: Predominately based at our premises in Thornton Heath, CR7 8LH, Greater London, with some site visits as and when required.
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (Negotiable based on skills and experience)
Contract: Full time, permanent, Monday - Friday.

Mayday Plant Hire is a successful, independent, customer-focused plant and tool hire company established in Croydon in 1977. We are proud to supply a wide range of plant and tools to both trade and domestic customers. As we continue to grow, we're looking to expand our team with a highly motivated Plant Engineer / Fitter who shares our passion for delivering excellent service.

Plant Engineer / Fitter - Job Responsibilities:

• Inspect, service, repair, and maintain a variety of diesel and petrol-powered plant, including our fleet of over 30 excavators ranging from 1-tonne micro machines to 8-tonne models.
• Work both on-site and at our Croydon premises.
• Use our 'InspHire' hire software to manage equipment service records, record repairs, and order spare parts.
• Collaborate with management, fitters, and yard staff to prioritize plant processing and meet customer requirements.
• Perform manual lifting as required.

Ideal Candidate:

• Customer-focused with strong communication skills.
• A team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
• Motivated, flexible, and literate.
• Experienced in plant or vehicle mechanics (minimum of 5 years).
• Able to work efficiently with our software to maintain accurate records.
• Hold a full clean driving license.

What we need from you:

• 5+ years of experience in plant or vehicle mechanics (required).
• Full clean driving license (required).
• Ability to commute to Thornton Heath, Greater London (required).
