Job Description
North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

We are recruiting two band 5 podiatrists in West Cumbria. An earlier start date would be considered at a lower banding while awaiting graduation and HCPC registration.

The Podiatry Department provides a comprehensive service to patients throughout North Cumbria. As a band 5 podiatrist, you will have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge to improve patient care through a robust preceptorship/induction programme. You will work alongside a friendly, welcoming, and supportive team dedicated to learning and improving, where everyone's voice counts.

This role would suit an enthusiastic and highly motivated new graduate or individual looking to return to practice to join our inspirational podiatry team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and planning abilities to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks, demonstrate high-level interpersonal skills alongside a good sense of humour and resilience, and be a team player with good IT skills. If this sounds like your ideal role, we look forward to receiving your application.

We maintain high-risk, biomechanics, and nail surgery caseloads while providing episodes of care for specific conditions. Opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in specialist areas are available in the multi-disciplinary diabetic foot team and North Cumbria MSK service.

Main Duties of the Job
  • To work with individuals, families, carers, communities, Primary Healthcare Teams, and other agencies to undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients/service users to inform a personalised plan of care/intervention.

  • To formulate and deliver individual treatment plans for various foot conditions using holistic assessment, reasoning, and treatments based on evidence-based practice, and within specified scope of practice and skill level.
  • To evaluate patient progress, reassess, and alter treatment programmes within scope of practice and skill level, using an accepted and appropriate range of techniques as required.
  • To follow treatment plans for foot ulceration, utilising digital technologies including electronic patient records and wound care applications.
  • To understand escalation points for patients presenting with complex conditions outside the scope of practice, including deteriorating or stagnating foot ulcers to a senior podiatrist.
  • To prioritise foot and/or medical problems, intervening appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent, or emergency situations.
  • To identify when patients need interventions from other services and initiate timely and onward referrals.
