As a Senior Preconstruction Manager, you will be part of the Design and Construction team (D&C) within AMZ Global Engineering services (GESS), with the long-term vision of shaping the future of the Construction Industry. Within D&C, we push the boundaries of possibility, driving innovative, standardized and scalable solutions to deliver high-quality buildings and capacity to meet customer needs. We deliver, having safety, people and sustainability at the heart of what we do.

Would you like an opportunity to travel and work in multiple countries and cultures? The role will be based in the UK with 50% of time traveling either domestically or to other EMEA countries.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  1. You will independently manage complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection through design completion, permitting and contract execution, coordinating with design teams and project stakeholders.
  2. You will keep the scope under control and accelerate progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, identifying and clearing blockers, and escalating appropriately.
  3. You will work with internal/external teams and drive results through communicating, weighing risks, clearing blockers, and making decisions.
  4. You will oversee professional service providers ensuring their skills and competencies meet the needs of entitling property and projects.
  5. You will perform pricing reviews for scope inclusions/exclusions and negotiate the cost of the work with developers, general contractors, and design consultants.
  6. You will estimate cost, manage Due Diligences, schedule tracking, and forecasting, while identifying and solving factors that may impede a successful project hand-over.
  7. You will supervise the implementation and management of Amazon's safety programs and standards.
  8. You will insist on the highest standards from self and others and drive accountability for results.
  9. You will negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

A Day in the Life:
Each day you will represent AMZ and D&C GESS in ensuring the on-time and in-budget execution of Amazon construction projects, while strategically improving processes, costs, quality, and sustainability performance. You will lead and mentor large cross-functional teams as an expert technical and project management resource. You will drive significant communication across departments and serve as an authority on project issues. You will leverage your experience to understand where gaps exist in project plans and propose solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. A completed Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or comparable field and solid demonstrable experience in related disciplines.
  2. Solid demonstrable project management experience from design phase through implementation.
  3. Experience within packaging processing/logistical facilities or comparable experience.
  4. Fluent in English; knowledge of other languages is welcome.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field.
  2. Experience operating within at least two disciplines in the construction industry.
  3. Demonstrated capability in planning, design review & implementation, and project management/control of new structures.
  4. Experience managing multi-disciplinary design incorporating industrial automation.
  5. Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  6. Demonstrated success in communicating to various audiences.
  7. Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
  8. Participation during a previous new FC Launch at Amazon in any role would be desired.
  9. German, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans, and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
