Principal / Associate EIA Consultant - Global consultancy

My client, a leader in Climate Change and Sustainability Services, is seeking a Principal / Associate level Consultant to join their dynamic Assessments team in London. This role offers the chance to work on impactful projects across various sectors, including transport, water, and energy, as well as urban development initiatives. You will collaborate with private developers, public sector authorities, and other organisations, delivering high-quality environmental consultancy services.

As a key member of the team, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary environment, working alongside specialists in environmental, planning, engineering, and urban design. Your role will involve managing the assessment process, technical teams, and reviewing all technical inputs to ensure compliance with EIA Regulations and project details.

Flexible working available. Minimum 2 days a week in the central London office.

Responsibilities & Tasks

1. Deliver environmental impact assessment projects, managing the assessment process and technical teams.
2. Write environmental reports, including EIA screening letters, EIA scoping reports, and Environmental Statements.
3. Review topic reports/inputs for compliance with EIA Regulations and project details.
4. Undertake project management activities, including programming and budget control.
5. Liaise and convey information to clients effectively.
6. Assist with business development and marketing for the impact assessment team.
7. Prepare bids and presentations.
8. Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff.

Ideal Candidate Profile

1. Degree-level education, preferably a master's degree in a relevant field.
2. Full membership of an appropriate institute (e.g., Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) or equivalent).
3. Chartered Environmentalist status is advantageous, not essential.
4. Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and its application in impact assessments.
5. Proven ability to manage environmental projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
6. Experience in the Energy and/or Water sectors.
7. Familiarity with the Planning Act 2008 Development Consent Order (DCO) process.
8. Excellent client liaison, programme and time management, quality assurance, and financial/budget control skills.
