Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Clinical Psychologist - Older Adults based at Ayrshire Central Hospital.
What you will do:
NHS Ayrshire and Arran are recruiting a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (8A) within the pan-Ayrshire Older Adult Psychology Specialty. This is an exciting post with strong professional development opportunities within a small but highly motivated, passionate and supportive specialist team. The postholder will be an integral member of the team while working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues across community and hospital settings. The post includes involvement in the training, coaching and supervision of staff (including Trainee Clinical Psychologists) as well as local research and audit projects. There is also the opportunity to be involved in aspects of service development, including shaping the development of our growing mental health inpatient provision.
Services are delivered to the population directly through specialist therapeutic intervention with patients with complex difficulties. Psychological Services provides expert advice, consultancy, training and supervision in order to develop the psychological skills of other health and non-health professionals. It also aims to enhance the delivery of psychological care across the whole healthcare system through formal contribution at strategic and planning levels.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
- Post graduate Doctorate degree in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
- Honours degree in Psychology (minimum upper 2 nd class)
- Eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychology status
- Evidence of appropriate CPD
- Health Care Professions Council Registration (Clinical Psychology)
- You must be HCPC registered as a Practitioner Clinical Psychologist. Trainee Clinical Psychologists would not be expected to be HCPC registered at the point of applying for the post, but would need to have attained registration before they would be eligible to commence the post.
Hours:
This post is permanent and is offered 22.2 hours per week. Variation in these contractual hours may also be considered and applicants are encouraged to discuss their preferences.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
Given our pan-Ayrshire service across three Partnership areas, a car owner and driver is preferable.
