Job overview

We are looking for a clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist to join our Adult Neuropsychology team in an exciting Trust-wide role in a one year fixed term (maternity cover) role. This part-time role is 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours).

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be part of a valued and established Adult Neuropsychology Consultation service in NELFT which offers specialist neuropsychological assessment, consultation and advice to teams in both community health and mental health pathways in the Trust. The post-holder will be involved in neuropsychology pathway service development including generating business cases, supervision of qualified psychologists, trainee psychologists and assistant psychologists, delivery of teaching and training on neuropsychology topics, and promotion of the service throughout the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide operational and clinical leadership within Adult Neuropsychology and to all psychological practitioners working in the neuropsychology pathway.
2. Further develop the neuropsychology pathway in NELFT.
3. Take responsibility for assessment, treatment and systematic outcome measurement in the neuropsychology pathway.
4. Ensure a high quality, timely, accessible and evidence-based psychological service is available to all service users who need it.
5. Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with wider mental and community physical health services.
6. Ensure adherence to evidence based psychological treatments by all clinical staff within the neuropsychology pathway.
7. Manage any waiting list for the neuropsychology pathway and ensure the waiting list is at clinically safe levels and prioritising resources in line with clinical needs.
8. Lead in consultation, supervision, teaching and training of staff working within the neuropsychology pathway and playing a key role in audit and evaluation.
9. Lead on the delivery of specialist neuropsychological assessment, intervention and support service for service users referred within the neuropsychology pathway.
10. Leading on the delivery of neuropsychological services across psychology services.
11. Auditing and evaluating within the neuropsychology pathway. This will include reviewing people who do not engage with the service, and those who drop out, to identify ways of ensuring that the service is accessible and responsive to diverse needs.
12. Leading on the provision of expert neuropsychological advice, consultation and support to the services (e.g. Secondary Psychology, MHWT, TT) who are referring clients within the neuropsychology pathway.
13. Leading on the onward referral to secondary/primary care mental health services.
14. Working autonomously within professional guidelines and within the overall framework of policies and procedures of the Trust.

Person specification Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
  • HCPC Registration
  • Post graduate diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology
  • Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN)
Experience
  • Substantial clinical experience working with neurological conditions
  • Substantial experience working in teams using a consultative model
  • Substantial experience supervising others
  • Experience in adult mental health services
  • Experience in leadership and service development
Knowledge
  • Depth & breadth of knowledge of neuropsychology, neurology and mental health
  • Knowledge of supervision models, frameworks and processes
