Role Purpose
The Climate Change Consultant will support national and sub-national governments in developing and implementing climate strategies, such as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Long-Term Low-Emissions Development Strategies (LT-LEDS), in line with the Paris Agreement. The role involves technical delivery, project management, business development, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver international consultancy projects on national and sub-national climate action plans (e.g., NDCs, LT-LEDS).
- Lead projects or workstreams related to GHG emissions modelling and mitigation impact assessment.
- Develop and manage complex proposals, including competitive bidding processes.
- Facilitate capacity-building activities, including workshops and training sessions.
- Mentor and support junior staff in project delivery and business development.
- Build and maintain client and partner relationships, contributing to business growth.
Key Competencies and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a scientific, engineering, environmental, or economic field.
- Strong understanding of international climate policy and Paris Agreement requirements.
- Experience in GHG emissions modelling and mitigation impact analysis.
- Proven track record in delivering international consultancy projects on climate action.
- Experience in business development and competitive bid writing in a consultancy setting.
- Familiarity with major international funders (e.g., European Commission, World Bank, GIZ, ADB, UK Government).
- Strong quantitative analysis skills and numeracy.
- Experience leading and collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Fluent in English; additional language skills are desirable.
