Job Description

Do you want to be part of a business that says No to fossil fuels projects? Can you have an impact on the green transition? Are you an experienced Marine Engineer? Then, shape a sustainable and liveable world with us.

Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow

To grow our Marine team, we are looking for a Principal Engineer to join us. Working on traditional Ports and Coastal Development, you'll support our Structure business in areas such as marine facilities linked with Offshore Wind or production/shipping of Green Fuels.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Project management or discipline management for marine projects, guiding a diverse multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians.
  • The development of project controls and monitoring of progress against programme.
  • Technical leadership within the marine sector.
  • Ensuring consistent application of best practice across projects and on technical innovations.
  • Assisting in the development of the technical skills of less experienced engineers.
  • Liaising closely with and supporting our international colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-quality service offering across our projects.
  • Directing technical input for bids and tenders alongside our marketing team.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

Like us, you believe that leadership success comes from setting a clear and meaningful direction for your team and supporting them in taking ownership of their work. You always delegate responsibility and ensure an open and safe dialogue, and you coach your people to achieve their aspirations through constructive, fact-based feedback. Attracting and nurturing a diverse group of high-potential team members is at the top of your agenda, as is creating an inclusive, caring, and trusting culture in your team.

On top of that, you'll have:

  • A Chartered Structural or Civil Engineer.
  • Extensive demonstrable experience of managing the design and project management of marine projects (this must include UK based projects).
  • In-depth experience in any of the following: Master planning of Marine Facilities especially for Offshore Wind (or other Energy Projects such as Hydrogen and Carbon Capture Facilities), Design of Jetties, quay walls and other marine structures, or Coastal engineering including design of breakwater/revetments, scour protection, and coastal processes.
  • Ability to communicate and liaise efficiently and professionally with the design team, clients, and contractors.
  • Capability to provide technical direction with the ability to coach, coordinate, supervise, and develop less experienced engineers.
  • Sound understanding and experience in the application of the CDM Regulations and risk assessment process.
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

A place to work and so much more.

We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity - and sometimes even our courage - to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. That is why we say no to fossil-based projects and aspire to have 100% of our revenue come from activities that move our customers towards sustainability.

We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun. Because that is what brings out the best in you, at work and at home.

With offices primarily located in Scandinavia, the UK, North America, and India, we are currently 8,000 people who bring their expertise in engineering, architecture, energy, and environment into play.
