Are you willing to jump in at the deep end? If so, we want you within Herefordshire Council's Drainage and Flood Risk Management Team. We're growing the team due to increased investment and, unfortunately, a rise in flood events. This means exciting opportunities for talented individuals like you to get stuck in and contribute to shaping Herefordshire's approach to flood risk management and the development of vital projects.

You will need to:

1. Oversee and coordinate flood risk management for surface water, groundwater, and ordinary watercourses.
2. Provide expert advice to elected Members, officers, communities, and stakeholders on flood causes, sources, and solutions.
3. Work with key partners, including the Environment Agency, water companies, Internal Drainage Boards, and neighbouring councils, on flood risk, drainage, and planning.
4. Manage flood risk and drainage projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
5. Provide technical advice to internal teams, stakeholders, and communities on flood risk management.
6. Manage works on the highway network to ensure that specifications are met.
7. Advise on planning policies related to flood risk and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
8. Lead investigations, manage consultants, prepare business cases and develop flood management schemes, including Property Flood Resilience.
9. Respond to public enquiries, complaints, and ensure issues are resolved effectively and professionally.
