New year, new opportunities at Trafford Council

We have an exciting opportunity within the Inclusive Economy and Communities Team at Trafford Council. Join us on our journey to build a strong and sustainable economy and opportunities for our communities to develop and grow, leaving no one behind. This is the most exciting time to join our team due to the range of initiatives and projects underway and planned for the future.

If you have the energy, enthusiasm, and skills to make a real impact and deliver the best possible outcomes for Trafford's residents and businesses, then we would like to hear from you.

About the role

Working to deliver on a broad agenda with a focus on employment and skills, business support and engagement, and regeneration initiatives, this is an exciting and varied role. You will take a lead role, managing a small team of officers and supporting colleagues, sharing information and working collaboratively to achieve strategic and project objectives.

You will drive and lead the team to deliver on place-based regeneration projects and be involved in taking forward sub-regionally/regionally significant schemes such as Old Trafford Regeneration, New Carrington, and Davenport Green. Linking employment and skills opportunities to these large schemes will be key, along with the delivery of employment and skills programmes to provide targeted support for businesses and communities to grow and reach their full potential.

Supporting the development and implementation of a range of initiatives that realise benefits for local communities, especially vulnerable neighbourhoods and address inequalities, you will work in partnership with key stakeholders such as the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), local businesses, and communities to deliver place-based business support and growth, investment, employment and skills, and regeneration.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your excellent communication and project management skills as you prepare and present information, reports, and other written material in appropriate formats for a range of audiences and lead on quality project management, including timescales, budgets, governance, financial, risk, evaluation, and performance management.

The role sits within the Inclusive Economy and Communities Team which is part of the Place Directorate based at the Town Hall in Stretford, and you will report to the Inclusive Economy and Communities Manager. A flexible hours and working policy is in place and some unsocial hours working is required on occasions.

About you

Applicants must be educated to degree or equivalent and have at least 3 to 4 years' experience of working in a related field, including working in partnership with a range of public, private, and VCFSE organisations. See role profile for additional criteria.

Your supporting statement (no more than two sides of A4) should show how you meet the criteria (experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities) as detailed in the role profile - see the application link at the bottom of this advert.
