Principal Planner

Our client is a Local Authority looking for an experienced Planning Project Manager to join their Development Management Team for a predominantly remote contract role.

Working alongside a Project Manager and Planning Technician, you will help deliver a high-quality and high-profile large-scale planning development. You will provide support to the lead planning officer at all stages of the project and be able to deputise for them as required. You will be the case officer for an expected separate application for the extension of a major transport development and assist the lead planning officer with the assessment of the application, including all the material considerations, consultation responses, and the preparation of reports in relation to the provision of pre-application advice and the determination of the planning application.

To apply for this role, you will need to be a degree-qualified Town Planner with a strong development management background. A degree in Town and Country Planning or a related field and significant practical experience of working within the service area, processing large-scale residential and commercial planning applications and appeals, is required, giving rise to a variety of technical skills and a sound understanding of the standards, legal responsibilities, work practices, and processes relevant to the role.

This role is based in Somerset, but due to the nature of the projects you will be involved with, it can be carried out predominantly remotely. You will need to carry out site visits and possibly attend ad-hoc developer meetings depending on the projects being handled. Attendance at planning committees for your applications will be required.

Our client is offering up to £70/hr umbrella, and this role is inside IR35. It will initially be offered for 6 months, but there is potential for it to be extended beyond this.
