Principal Policy Planner

Our client based in Somerset has a contract requirement for a degree-qualified Town Planner to join their Policy Team. They require a candidate with significant Local Plan experience within a local authority setting.

Working in a busy department, you will assist in working on major/strategic development sites. You will appraise and make recommendations on complex, contentious, and controversial planning applications and cases against the Local Plan, regulations, and legislative frameworks, ensuring that applications are compliant with requirements and the council's needs. You will provide written statements and Proofs of Evidence and represent the Council at Examinations in Public and associated hearings as an expert witness.

This role would suit a planning policy professional with substantial knowledge and experience. You will take a leading part in the Planning Policy Team, providing professional advice.

This role will initially run until January 2026. The rate offered is £35 - £38/hr Umbrella, and this role is inside IR35. Our client offers a very flexible working arrangement.
